My Journey with Snooker
My passion for cue sports began at the age of five, thanks to my dad’s early encouragement. It wasn’t until high school, though, that I discovered snooker—a game of precision, strategy, and elegance. I was instantly captivated. The sport’s refined nature and deliberate pace offered a stark contrast to the chaos of everyday life, and my admiration for Ronnie O’Sullivan was sealed the moment I saw him play. His pinpoint accuracy and lightning-fast breaks have made him my all-time favorite player.
Snooker has become more than just a game for me—it’s a meditative practice. It teaches me patience, focus, and the importance of finding rhythm amidst life’s constant motion. After every session, I walk out of the hall feeling reinvigorated, as though I’ve hit a mental "reset." In the world of snooker, I’ve found both a challenge and a retreat—a perfect balance that keeps me coming back to the table, week after week.
Since moving to Seattle, I’ve made it a weekly ritual to visit a snooker hall in Capitol Hill to refine my game. It’s become my sanctuary from the hustle of city life and academic stress. There’s something incredibly grounding about the crisp clack of billiard balls colliding—it’s like the world slows down for a moment, allowing me to recharge. Right now, I’m diligently preparing for next year’s Seattle Snooker Open, excited for the chance to test my skills and meet fellow enthusiasts.
